Phrazes For The Young
I’m not sure what to say exactly about Julian Casablancas upcoming solo album, except for as a long time Strokes fan I’ll buy pretty much anything he’ll put out. I will say, however, I have a real soft spot for late 70’s/early 80’s style motion graphics. Take a peek at the newly released promo video for Julian’s upcoming album and you’ll know what I mean.

Counter-Print.co.uk
If you’re looking to add to your (probably already too-large-to-ever-read-them-all) collection of design books, head over to Counter-Print. They specialize in carrying hard-to-find or out-of-print design and art related books. There is some striking material to choose from, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll find it hard to resist adding yet one more beautiful space taker to your repertoire.

Guerilla Posters
Neat design experiment by Cardon Copy following his mother’s advice: “Leave it better than the way you found it.” He finds homemade fliers that disappear into the clutter and gives them a makeover, experimenting with the power of design and what it can do to a message - strengthen or destroy. Check out the debate here.

Wine Fridays
In the spirit of Friday here are a few fun, clever and just plain beautiful wine bottles that would surely catch your eye in the liquor mart aisle. First up, personalize your wine bottle in a cheeky and clever way with BFrank wine bottles, created by Talia Cohen for the B Frank digital marketing agency. Second, The Mini Garage Wines and Brandies by Anthony Hammond have a literal conception – Hammond’s wine is produced in a former tractor shop in Germany. Last but not least, these colourful wine bottles are by the UK based firm Death By Colour.

You Probably Came Here to See This
Not quite sure what it is about these photos, but they make me happy. Check out the rest of Shaun Sundholm’s set on Flickr.
All Things Charley Harper
While this designer only learned of Charley Harper a couple of years ago (by purchasing his wonderful ABC’s book), his work has been adored by many for decades. He is widely renown as a Modernist responsible for geometrically simple wildlife imagery, and his illustrations concentrated on colour, form and balance rather than the finer details. Now you too can share in the wonderfully simple art he produced by visiting Purlbee and purchasing the needlepoint collection from Charley Harper.
