In a random survey conducted around the office this past Friday we listed our first vehicles. We discovered the following 3 things;
A) everyone drove a beater
B) almost half of the office wrote that same vehicle off
C) this link is amazing for looking at old car brochures, and this one is great for photos
We’d like to now share with you the luxury cars that made us the hard-working team we are today. Unfortunately, some of our vehicles were so unpopular, we couldn’t even find images for them. Bonus points if you can match the car to the lucky owner.
Who here likes motion graphics? If you raised your hand, then count yourselves among us here in the office. Anytime we have the opportunity to make a pixel or two fly across a screen, Tyrone, our resident web/motion graphics expert gets giddy. Of course you wouldn’t realize he’s giddy given that he doesn’t talk much. But you can see it in his eyes. They get this glint in them whenever someone mentions the words “graphics” and “motion” in the same sentence. Unless of course the sentence was “Man, this would be a great project if we could use motion graphics but we can’t so don’t even get your hopes up Tyrone.” Anyhoo, that wasn’t the case with this project. We did use them. And it was fun. And Tyrone was happy.
We received our official Magic Igloo Makers this morning, just in the nick of time. We’re pretty excited to see the final product, and even more excited that in 7 short days we’re finally going to put them to good use. If you don’t believe me, check out these excited faces!
We’ve been busy here at Neuhaus over the last few weeks preparing our holiday gift. It is not yet complete, but here is a little sneak peek. (hint: it involves gold. A lot of gold.)
No, we’re not talking about cuddling up to your loved one in an igloo (although it is your choice). We’re talking a great winter product and an even better charitable cause. In collaboration with the Magic Igloo Maker we will be spending 48 hours in an igloo to raise money for the Children’s Hospital Foundation. Originally this event was to be held in December but due to frightfully cold temps, we had to postpone until this weekend. If you haven’t heard of the Magic Igloo Maker yet, you will soon. The Magic Igloo Maker is a specially designed plastic mould that makes interlocking snow blocks to create big, strong, safe igloos easily and quickly. It works will all types of snow and can be built by just about anyone regardless of age.
Keep in touch this weekend through our neuhaus facebook page, at twitter.com/neuhausdesign or right here on our neusblog. If you’d prefer to donate online rather than in person, you can go to goodbear.mb.ca and click on the Making Igloo Magic link!
Our subjects have been varied; rants & raves, tributes to our favourite designers, sharing a laugh… We’re still new to the blogosphere, but we’re showing no signs of slowing down. In honour of our 100th post we present: Bibliographic: 100 Classic Graphic Design Books.
Now go grab a pen and put it on your Christmas list. You know you want to.
We are excited to announce the completion of our freshly-designed 16 foot banners at the Centennial Concert Hall. Newly launched (as of Monday), the banners show off the 4 main entertainment draws the Concert Hall provides; The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, The Manitoba Opera, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet and of course the many concerts the center brings. The banners mark the completion of the first phase of brand signage. We are currently continuing the execute the new brand as we develop the new website, set to launch early in the New Year. Once again, stay tuned.
In a new installment here at Neuhaus called “Typographic Tuesdays”, at least until we think of a better name, we’ll be posting quotes uttered around the office. Here’s my personal favourite. (Bonus points if you can guess who said what to whom.)
Thickness. Length. Thickness. Length. This debate has raged on for generations. Through an independent study created and executed by Neuhaus Design, we have determined conclusively* that women indeed prefer a nice, big, thick head of hair over the alternative. We’ve published our findings by way of an outdoor, print and radio campaign for the good folks at the Sheps Hair Transplant Clinic.
